FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Barry Schrock, director of leadership programs at Greater Fort Wayne (GFW) Inc., has been selected as a 2019 Community Builders Award winner.
The Community Builders Award recognizes and connects leaders across the state of Indiana who are actively working to improve their leadership skills and take active roles in their communities and workplaces. The awards, given annually to 15 Indiana leaders, are presented by Evergreen Leadership.
“Barry is incredibly dedicated to the craft of building leaders,” said Brenda Gerber Vincent, GFW Inc.’s VP of community and corporate impact. “The world is changing, so leadership techniques must change as well. What sets Barry apart is his drive to combine tried-and-true approaches with new innovations. We’re fortunate to have someone like him to build future leaders and keep current leaders on the cutting edge, in business and in our community as a whole.”
Schrock joined GFW Inc. in April as its director of leadership programs. He oversees Leadership Fort Wayne, the new Leadership 2.0 program, the GFW Fellows premier internship program, and the GFW Inc. Women’s Network, among other duties. Schrock has worked in coaching, training, and leadership for more than 27 years. An Allen County resident since 1999, he earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio Northern University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Indiana University. He is a Gallup-certified strengths coach.
“I am extremely honored to be selected for the Community Builder Leadership Award,” Schrock said. “I am very grateful for the recognition of my work, but I would not have had this opportunity without the help and support of many others. I particularly want to thank Brenda Gerber Vincent for the nomination.
“I am proud to live, work, learn, and play in Fort Wayne and Allen County,” he continued. “We truly have an amazing community.”
Schrock will accept his award Oct. 4-5 at the 2019 Community Builders Retreat hosted by Oakwood Center in Selma, Ind.
