30Â Participate in November 26 Event
FORT WAYNE, IND. – Greater Fort Wayne (GFW) Inc., is championing 27 local businesses for Small Business Saturday on November 26. This year marks the seventh annual Small Business Saturday in Fort Wayne, a nationally-recognized day to shop and support local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and invigorate the community. It is estimated that $16.2 billion was spent nationwide at small, independent businesses during the 2015 event, a 14 percent increase from the previous year.
“Independent and locally-owned businesses are critical to the economy–they help bring prosperity to our communities and create jobs for our families and loved ones,” Jami Thomas, director of investor services, said. “According to research from the U.S. Small Business Administration, when consumers spend $100 at a local business, roughly $68 stays in our local economy.”
