Shelby Nichter
Impact Coordinator
Shelby joined the GFW Inc team in July 2024 to support the Impact Team with programs and events, ensuring they run smoothly and successfully.
After graduating from Ball State University, Shelby worked for the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne for 10 years. As the Program Director overseeing summer camp, outdoor education and retreats, she connected residents of Northeast Indiana to the outdoors, sparking a curiosity for the natural environment.
Following the YMCA, Shelby worked for Allen County as the Communications and Outreach Coordinator for the Department of Environmental Management where she educated adults and youth through presentations, led workshops, and participated in community outreach events.
Shelby has a passion for nature, sustainability, and the Fort Wayne and Allen County community. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and tending to her honeybee hives. Shelby is on the planning committee for the Northeast Indiana Beekeepers Association and serves on YMCA Camp Potawotami’s Alumni Committee.
